What is the most important lesson you learned at Bowie State University?

The most important lesson I learned at Bowie was to take every day one step at a time. Make no regrets. It’s during your college years when you learn who your TRUE allies are among faculty and students.

Describe a memorable experience you had during your academic career at Bowie State.

In 2009, I had complete control of the Homecoming Gospel Fest. It was a complete success! That whole week leading up to the event, I was stressed to the max. In the 15 minutes leading up to the event, as the guys were bringing in the organ and setting up the speakers, I said to myself, “Job well done. You made it happen!” It’s so hard to fill up the Myers Auditorium in the MLK Communication Arts Center, but it was packed 3/4 full!

Which professor or class had the most profound impact on you? Why?

PROFESSOR RICHARD LOWERY! No other statement is needed. Professors like him should be populating every school in America. It is not his mission to teach you the book – his mission is to be a force behind your growth. He has been a MAJOR force behind making me who I am!

Describe the activity that was the most helpful in preparing you for your future goals.

As Business Manager for the Bowie State Gospel Choir under Dr. Joan Hillsman, I learned how to deal with a very diverse group of people with decency and respect. I learned how to pull off events with little to no notice and how to conduct business properly parallel to my major.

How do you plan to use your degree to achieve your future goals?

I was born into a family that thrives on entrepreneurship. So naturally, I have several business ventures that I would like to see come to pass very soon.

What are your plans now that you are graduating?

I want to attend graduate school, but I don’t know where yet. I may come back to Bowie!
