Our curriculum is designed to give students an invaluable foundation in law, social justice, community advocacy and forensic science. You’ll engage a multidimensional approach to studying crime, from its causes, offenders and victims to the corrective processes, agencies and laws working to control it. Our intensive course track introduces students to applied methods of sociological research to help them develop a pragmatic knowledge of corrections and criminal justice. Inside our full-service SMART classrooms, you will:

To foster a comprehensive understanding of crime as well as the most equitable methods to prevent and control it, our internships give students the opportunity to both earn field-specific experience and be servant leaders in the community. Demonstrating the early ability to be practitioners and problem-solvers enhances our students’ employment opportunities and shapes them into strong competitors in the job market. - Join: Our students enjoy participation in two active organizations: The Criminal Justice Club and Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society. Students also benefit from The Baltimore Scholars Program and the LSAT Award Program, both offered at the University of Baltimore Law School. Participation in those programs has been influential in helping interested majors earn admission and, at the same time, increases diversity in legal education.
- Explore: Our state-of-the-art criminalistics lab is the gateway to the latest techniques and procedures in crime scene investigations. Students learn how to analyze physical evidence—from fingerprints and firearms to documents and toxicology reports—and reconstruct past events with high-powered microscopes and high-speed cameras. Traditional instruction is enhanced by frequent field trips and guest speakers, exposing students to networking and employment possibilities in the field.
A degree in criminal justice is a gateway to careers in both the private and public sector. Graduates go on to fulfilling positions and accomplishments in law enforcement, adult and juvenile justice, correctional institutions, counseling centers, street outreach, corporate security and intelligence, social advocacy, adoption agencies and all levels of government.
