Testing Services

The University Test Services (UTS) provides testing services for faculty who are teaching on-line courses. At present, testing services for paper and pencil exams are limited.  UTS aims to provide the best alternative-testing accommodations for all faculty and students.   It’s imperative that faculty and staff contact UTS to reserve testing slots for their students. Instructions for Students Who Plan to Test in UTS lab

Before you are permitted to take an exam in UTS lab, you must meet several criteria:

  • Your name must appear on the class roster that your instructor submits to UTS;
  • You must present to UTS at the time of your exam a photo ID (a driver’s license, military ID, Bowie ID card, or passport).
  • You must have registered to take the exam.

Academic Honesty/Testing Irregularities

The Code of Student Conduct is described in detail in the Student Handbook.  All regulations and policies are strictly enforced by UTS.  If UTS directly observes any instance of academic dishonesty or misconduct, the student is given a warning and the incident is reported to the instructor.  If it persists, the student will be asked to leave the testing facility and forfeit their test.  The incident will also be reported to the instructor, who will decide how the matter will be handled.  All testing sessions are monitored and recorded.

While taking an exam with UTS, you are expected to adhere to its Testing Center requirements and guidelines as well as the University's Code of Student Conduct.  Any infractions of the guidelines will result in denial of testing services to the student and be reported to the instructor.  These guidelines are posted in the center and include, but are not limited to:  no personal items allowed at the testing stations (phones, electronic devices, purses, book bags, etc.), no food is permitted in the testing room, no coats or hats, no talking, and once you are checked in to take your test, there are no rest room breaks.
